Great Value scales August 27, 2010 Maria Kerry (UK) For this price I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was fairly accurate and ensured we weren't stung for excesss baggage. I mistakenly put it in my hand luggage on the way home from holiday and it was confiscated due to the metal hook, so put it in a suitcase. However, I have ordered a second one as it is well woth having.
Does exactly what it is meant to do! August 5, 2010 TomMcD Definitely saved me some money here - I had no idea how heavy my suitcase was, without anything in it!!! Didn't realise it had a measuring tape built in which was a bonus! Not as fancy as some digital scales out there, and quite a bit more bulky than the more expensive digital scales, but it is still not massive and does exactly what I needed it to! Quick delivery in perfect conditioned sealed packaging and clearly new.
Broke after 2nd use July 30, 2010 Trifle (UK) Although very cheap, this item did not provide an accurate weight. Our luggage was overweight when we got to the airport, but luckily the check-in desk let it go anyway.
Also, it is very very difficult to lift your luggage with it as the hook is too flat and the luggage just slips off if it is not sort of held on.
When we got the scale out to use on the return journey, the needle was not on the 0 so it was again unreliable.
Might be better off investing in a better model.
Don't bother July 16, 2010 PJ Rankine (Wallington, Surrey United Kingdom) I bought this for a friend as a replacement for hers that broke when I used it. She bought it because she isn't strong enough to hold her case steady whilst the digital version reads and locks in the reading and she found the scale easier to read. I used this for a hard shell suitcase and the flimsy hook couldn't cope with the weight of 23kg and flew out of shape dropping it. The resultant momentum caused the needle to fly to the nine o'clock position and stay there. If you have difficulty hooking your case too I would suggest you buy one of the ones with an additional strap to go round the handle. It's definitely worth buying something as all the airlines have reduced their baggage allowances and my last trip cost me thirty quid in excess baggage charges!
"Just a Scale" July 12, 2010 spudnik Bought for two reasons, one as advertised, and two as part of coaches pack for weighing tenpin bowling balls so no guessing what weight a bowler is using. Daughter used on trip to USA and no excess luggage costs.
