IGNORE THE 5 STAR BANDWAGON! September 5, 2010 Julie Morgan (Pontypool) Firstly, I didn't buy these scales from Amazon. These are shocking value for money. Support everything said by all the 1 starrers.
Failed after about 3 months. Intermittent display, feint display, illegible display despite changing the battery.
DO NOT BUY.
Salter - take it off the market.
Ignore the 1 star bandwagon August 12, 2010 K. M. Ord (Liverpool UK) I stumbled across this link by accident, and felt, as an owner of these scales for over a year now, that I'd have to set the record straight. The reviews here are a disgrace. The public are sheep aren't they. A couple of unfavourable reviews, a couple of one star allocations; and they're all at it. I would give a product only one star if it was poor, and I have done in the past; but you can't seriously believe half of the imbecilic reviews here.
Putting it bluntly, these scales do work; and they operate perfectly - all of the time. This arc model isn't one of the best selling set of scales on the market for nothing. The fifteen year guarantee isn't provided because the manufacturers decided to be generous or stamp it on as a joke.
I've used these scales quite frequently, and have had no functional problems whatsoever. Some people are whining about the battery conking out on them and that they can't afford to replace the expensive lithium battery. Utter rubbish. This model takes the cr2032 v3 lithium battery, one of the cheapest and most efficient batteries around, and is so ubiquitous that it can be picked up at any market stall. You can buy a pack of three for less than two pounds. I've got a pack of three which I purchased in anticipation of the supplied battery running low. Those batteries are still sitting in a draw; I've not yet needed to replace the original.
These scales are reliable, sturdy, easy to store, powered by an exceedingly cheap and commonly available lithium battery, and the unit is supplied at all leading outlets and via Amazon. If reliability was such an issue, I doubt they'd be on the shelves of the big department stores; and if there were any serious faults, then they'd have been recalled long ago. All in all, a solid product, manufactured to the highest standards.

had this item maybe a year at least then the batteries went dead, and when I changed them the scales wouldn't work. They would turn on, then when you placed anything on it it would turn off again. I doubled checked with several people I had put the batteries in properly but obviously the fact that it turned on in the first place meant that i had! so pretty frustrated as now i have to and buy a new set which is a faff! waste of money!
