| Customer Reviews: Disappointing. Unreliable readings June 1, 2010 I. Humphrey (Welwyn Garden City, Herts United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The scales are superficially attractive, but they are very lightweight and give unreliable readings. I would avoid these if you actually need scales for your cooking.
Nice generous bowl, but a disappointing lightweight. November 14, 2009 Deco Queen (Cornwall,UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Salter 108 High Dial Kitchen Scale in Classic Chrome and Stainless Steel
This is a very attractive retro design with a great big generous bowl but it is spoiled by the insubstantial build,I really thought it would be reasonably weighty. That really matters to me but it may not concern other purchasers.
The scales is not 100% precise when tapped which can be a bit annoying when weighing small amounts.
I use it mainly for bread making as the bowl can take large quantities of flour.
Simply Brilliant November 6, 2009 Drako Sun Dog (Scotland, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was about to make a cake when my electronic scales decided they had a low battery. I needed something more reliable so trolled through the manual scales available. I plumped for these because they looked good and matched my kitchen decor. I have used them constantly since and they are a joy to use. Simple and accurate. Needless to say the electronic scales are stored in a cupboard. I recommend these to anyone looking for good looks, retro style and accuracy.
Underweight.... March 25, 2009 Steelami 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought these scales to replace a much-loved and used pair of twenty-year old cast iron scales which still work, but take a lot of cleaning to maintain their looks.
It was a bit of a shock after the reassuringly weighty feel of my old scales, to pick up the box which claimed to contain the new ones. They're so light, they're almost not there!
I love the stylish look of these scales. They work and they're easy to read, but I'd have loved something a little more sturdy...
